  The wonderful Hawaii scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Hanalei beats anything. The starting point is not too far from Kapaa, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your camping stuff. There are a few other sections in this river system that can be paddled as well. If you're a camper you can camp at one
    of the great campgrounds nearby. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more.

Briefly about the general area:
Hit the beach if you want, Puu Poa Beach
is practically right here, and Hanalei is a place with many visitors from Hanalei. Wailua River State Park is a great spot to go if you're at Hanalei; nothing beats kicking back at Anini Beach. A river like this is too good to miss. There's good hiking along the Mhihi Waialae Trail; a spree to Ha'ena State Park revitalizes the soul. The Alakai Swamp Trail offers hiking at its best; close by you'll hit upon a wooded vicinity called Halelea Forest  
Reserve. So many enjoyable things to do at Hanalei, so little time. For the period of the summertime, highs ordinarily are in the 70's at Hanalei. For the duration of the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 50's. All through the wintertime highs are generally in the 60's while the cold winter nights at Hanalei are in the 40's. Hanalei sees pretty high levels of rain. The month of January is the wettest with most of the rain, and June meanwhile is the driest month.
