The Waimea Canyon stretch of Waimea in waimea district County is -blank- miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV(V) section. The natural beauty of Hawaii and the water flowing gracefully down Waimea are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Waimea Canyon section is the only paddling section along Waimea. The campgrounds here at Waimea are pretty good. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve
in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Waimea during the months of summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures descend down into the 70's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 80's, and night
lows all through the winter for Waimea tend to be in the 70's. All the water falling down from the sky makes Waimea a wet spot; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain, and May on the other hand is the driest.
