The Bitterroot Range scenery is wonderful. The Swamp Creek Trail to White Sand Creek section is the only paddling section along Big Sand Creek. The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so don't forget that lots of rivers here are not for beginners. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will have     you coming back for more. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other places. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Big Sand Creek. The yearly precipitation here at Big Sand Creek   is about average; the wettest month of the year is usually January, that's the one that snows the most, and July on the other hand is the driest.
