Idaho whitewater - Blackfoot River, Bingham County
Bingham
county,
Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 12 miles
The scenic beauty of Bingham County and the cool fresh water make the trip here worthwhile. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge stretch is one of them. The Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge section of Blackfoot River in Idaho is 12 miles
long and it is classified as a class II section by American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Idaho Falls, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming
back for more. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so pack your sleeping bag. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
