If you're coming from Idaho Falls it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This stretch of Blackfoot River in Bingham County is 12 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Idaho you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. This section is long enough for an overnight
trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Getting a good workout and spending some quality time in nature will make you glad you came. The beautiful scenery of Idaho and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Cutthroat Trout Campground to Trail Creek Bridge section is one of them. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.

and the driest month of the year is July. Summertime highs at Blackfoot River frequently tend to be in the 80's, and the overnight is somewhat cooler of course, frequently in the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and nighttime lows throughout the wintertime for Blackfoot River tend to be in the 0's.
