Troutdale Campground to Badger Creek Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS II 9 miles
If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. The Troutdale Campground to Badger Creek Campground section of Boise River is 9 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. On this section you do
get some distance, good for a one day paddling trip. This is not the only paddling stretch in this river system, there are others too. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you come because it is
a very popular destination. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good places. The wonderful Idaho scenery and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far.
Briefly about the general area: Hot Springs is an inspiring spot to pop by while here, and a great site nearby is Logging Gulch. Throughout the summer highs here at Boise River get into the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 40's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the
30's while the cold winter nights at Boise River are in the 10's. From a rainfall point of view Boise River is a rather common location; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest.
