Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The natural beauty of Elmore County and the water flowing gracefully down Boise River will make you feel great. This is a pretty decent length section, it's perfect for a one day trip. The starting point is not too far from     Mountain Home, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. The campgrounds here at Boise River are pretty good. There are so many sections to paddle in this river system, the Troutdale Campground to Badger Creek Campground section is just one of many. A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are sure to keep you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Briefly about the general area: Boise River is a good spot of common rain; the month with most of the snow is January, and the driest month is July. Don't leave Boise River without first paying a visit to Hot Springs,   and Logging Gulch is a splendid spot to spend some time. High temperatures at Boise River during the months of summer are in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Boise River sink into the 10's.
