The Troutdale Campground to Badger Creek Campground section of Boise River in Elmore County is 9 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Mountain Home, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, suitable     for an afternoon trip. The Troutdale Campground to Badger Creek Campground section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good places. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The scenic beauty of Idaho and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: Boise River gets a normal amount of annual rainfall; all through January this area sees the   most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. A short journey to Hot Springs is always worthwhile, and close by you come across Logging Gulch which is a fine site to visit. Summertime at Boise River arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer nighttime lows plunge down to the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Boise River.
