This stretch of Brushy Fork in Idaho County is 13 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V+ section by American Whitewater. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The nature scenery
of Idaho County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking
river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Whitewater paddling here in the Bitterroot Range is a great experience. Brushy Fork doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Off Elk Meadows Road to Crooked Creek section is the only one.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Brushy Fork through the summertime months are in the 80's, and through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime
come with highs in the 30's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Brushy Fork dip into the 10's. An average amount of rainfall falls at Brushy Fork; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July is when it's the driest. There's great hiking along the Lee Ridge Trail.
