Idaho
county,
Off Elk Meadows Road to Crooked Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS IV-V+ 13 miles
The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be harder to run than those in other states, so better not forget that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Getting some good exercise and spending some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. Brushy Fork doesn't have a lot
of paddling sections, the Off Elk Meadows Road to Crooked Creek section is the only one. The Off Elk Meadows Road to Crooked Creek section of Brushy Fork in Idaho County is 13 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class IV-V+ section. The nature scenery
of Idaho County and the water flowing gracefully down Brushy Fork are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. When you're paddling down a Bitterroot Range river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so pack your sleeping bag.
