This section of Clearwater River in Clearwater/ Nez Perce County is 41.3 miles long and has been rated as a class I-III section by American Whitewater. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your     car. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, perfect for a real wilderness adventure. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature have people coming from far and near. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Lewiston, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. Clearwater River doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Dworshack Reservoir to Washington border stretch is the only one. Briefly about the general area: Through the warmest time of the year here at Clearwater River, high temperatures regularly get into the 80's with night lows in the 40's.   During the winter the highs are typically in the 30's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Clearwater River temperatures fall to the 20's. Clearwater River gets a normal amount of rain; the month with most of the rain is November, and the driest of the months is July.
