Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful scenery of Clearwater/ Idaho County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. This is the only paddling section along Crooked Fork. The beautiful Bitterroot Range scenery is an added bonus. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of places for that. This section of Crooked Fork is 2 miles long
and is a class III-V section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. This is a pretty short section so no need to bring snacks. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd better reserve in advance because
these hotels fill up quick. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have people coming from far and near.
Briefly about the general area: Crooked Fork gets a normal amount of yearly rain; January is the wettest month with most snow, and July on the other hand is the driest. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Crooked Fork. Summer overnight lows fall down to the 40's. Daytime highs during the winter are in the 30's, and nighttime lows in the 10's for Crooked Fork. Near Crooked Fork you find the State Line Trail which is a great hiking trail.
