The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often tougher than in other states, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The beautiful scenery of Idaho and the water flowing gracefully down Crooked Fork attract people from near and far. There's camping available near Crooked
Fork. This section is quite short so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. This section of Crooked Fork is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. This is the only paddling section along Crooked Fork.
The wild scenery of the Bitterroot Range is great. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
Briefly about the general area: There is a great hiking trail next to Crooked Fork called the State Line Trail. The annual precipitation here at Crooked Fork is about average; during January this area sees the most snow; the driest month of the year is July. The warmest time of the year at Crooked Fork arrives with
high temperatures in the 80's with overnight lows in the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's, and throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Crooked Fork temperatures plunge to the 10's.
