The Hopeful Creek to Brushy Fork section of Crooked Fork is 2 miles long and has been rated as a class III-V section by American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. The Hopeful Creek to Brushy Fork section is the only paddling section along Crooked Fork. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby.
Whitewater paddling here in the Bitterroot Range is a great experience. This is a somewhat short section so no need to bring snacks. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places.
A good workout and just being out on the river for a while will make you glad you came. The beautiful scenery of Clearwater/ Idaho County and the playfulness of the water beats anything.
Briefly about the general area: Summertime highs at Crooked Fork generally tend to be in the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; nighttime lows throughout the wintertime for Crooked Fork tend to be in the 10's. The annual rain here at Crooked Fork is about average; through January this area sees the
most snow, and July is when it's the driest. There is a wonderful hiking trail in the neighborhood of Crooked Fork called the State Line Trail.
