This section of Deadwood River in Boise County is 10 miles long and it is classified as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The wonderful Idaho scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water attract people from near and far. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho are harder than the national norm, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections
here are not safe for beginners. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are sure to keep you coming back for more. The beautiful Salmon River Mountains scenery is an added bonus. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want
to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well.
Briefly about the general area: You simply must take a look at Oxbow Bend while you're here at Deadwood River. High temperatures at Deadwood River throughout the warmest time of the year are in the 90's, and during the night it cools down to the 40's. All through
the winter highs are in the 30's, and after the sun is down throughout the wintertime temperatures at Deadwood River drop into the 10's. Around Deadwood River you don’t get a lot of rainfall; the month with most of the snow is January, and July is the month with the least moisture.
