Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. The End of Road to South Fork Payette River stretch of Deadwood River is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is one
of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a
while are great reasons to come. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so why not pack your camping stuff too. The wild scenery of the Salmon River Mountains is great. The nature scenery of Boise County and the playfulness of the water attract people from near and far.
Briefly about the general area: All through the summertime highs here at Deadwood River reach the 90's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 30's while Deadwood
River nighttime low temperatures during the winter are in the 10's. Not much precipitation falls here at Deadwood River; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow; July is when it's the driest. No need to travel far to visit exciting stuff like Oxbow Bend.
