The beautiful scenery of Clearwater County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream beats anything. This stretch of Floodwood Creek in Clearwater County is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. There are no other sections to paddle along Floodwood Creek than the Bridge to Reservoir section. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The campgrounds here
at Floodwood Creek are pretty good. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wild scenery of the Clearwater Mountains is great. If you've been whitewater rafting
and kayaking outside Idaho you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots.
Briefly about the general area: All through the warm months at Floodwood Creek highs are commonly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Floodwood Creek dipping down into
the 20's throughout winter nights. That right there is plenty of entertaining things already but it goes on, the Clearwater Mountains has it all. There's nice hiking along the Rukgaber Trail. Floodwood Creek gets a common amount of yearly rainfall; of all the months in a year
January is the one with the most snow; the driest month is July. Nearby Coopers Saddle is a magnificent spot to go if you're at Floodwood Creek, and delightful hiking is available along the Freezeout Trail.
