Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho are harder than the national norm, so keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. Whitewater paddling here in the Salmon River Mountains is a great experience. There's camping available near Hard Creek. Hard Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling stretches, the Point upstream to Hazard     Creek confluence stretch is the only one. This is a somewhat short section so it's not like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This section of Hard Creek in Idaho is 2 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class IV-V section. Briefly about the general area: It is very dried up here at Hard Creek usually; May is the wettest month with most rain, and July is when it's the driest. Bascom Canyon is a wonderful spot to stop by close by, and do put some time aside to spend at Tepee Springs while you're here at Hard Creek.   During the long summer days highs here at Hard Creek get into the 90's, and during summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 40's; night lows in the 20's for Hard Creek. So many exciting things to do in the Salmon River Mountains, not enough time.
