Box Canyon can be floated by most anyone in a canoe, raft, drift boat, kayak or pontoon boat 8'+. There are enough rocks and shoreline sweepers to keep you on your toes. It's mainly floated by anglers or pleasure floaters and is often done several times a day due to it's nice short length of 4 miles. It's not real wilderness but the wilds are closeby and it's got a nice feel. Says Larry Tullis
The nature scenery of Idaho and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The starting point is not too far from Rexburg,
as you can see on the road map further down. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho tend to be more challenging than the national average, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. This stretch has has enough mileage, it's perfect for a one day
trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The Box Canyon to Last Chance stretch of Henrys Fork is 4 miles long and is a class II section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Lodging is available near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. There are so many stretches to paddle in this river system, the Box Canyon to Last Chance stretch is just one of many. Briefly about the general area: A brilliant site to have a look at right next door to Henrys Fork is Box Canyon. During the days of summer highs here at Henrys Fork get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it drops down to the 40's. Through the wintertime the highs
are commonly in the 20's, and winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Henrys Fork. Henrys Fork is a location that is quite waterless frequently; most of the rain falls all through June, and February is the month with the least moisture.
