  The Clayton Creek to Kelly Forks Campground section of Kelly Creek in Clearwater County is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. The nature scenery of Clearwater County and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The wild scenery of the Bitterroot Range is great. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground.
    A good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great attractions for lots of people. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the
national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good places. Kelly Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Clayton Creek to Kelly Forks Campground section is the only one.

Briefly about the general area:
At Kelly Creek throughout the warm days of summer highs are in the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 40's. Daytime highs throughout the wintertime are in the 30's, and after
 
the sun is down during the wintertime temperatures at Kelly Creek sink into the 10's. It is very dried out here at Kelly Creek regularly; of all the months in a year January is the one with the most snow, and July meanwhile is the driest month.
