Idaho whitewater - Kelly Creek, Bitterroot Range, Clearwater County Clearwater county, Clayton Creek to Kelly Forks Campground section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III-IV     10 miles   The Clayton Creek to Kelly Forks Campground stretch of Kelly Creek in Idaho is 10 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving. There are no other sections to paddle along Kelly Creek than the Clayton Creek to Kelly Forks Campground section. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camping stuff. Not     too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The wild scenery of the Bitterroot Range is great. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you'll find lots of paddling places. The wonderful Idaho scenery and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Kelly Creek through the summer months are in the 80's while overnight lows are generally in the 40's. Highs through the winter are regularly in the 30's, and after the sun is down through the winter temperatures   at Kelly Creek fall into the 10's. Kelly Creek is usually a rather dried up location; the wettest month of the year is frequently January, that's the one that snows the most, and July is when it's the driest.
