CLASS II 14 miles
This stretch of Kootenai is 14 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II section. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The natural beauty of Idaho and the cool fresh water beats anything. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. The Leonia to pipeline Close to Bonners Ferry section is the only paddling section along Kootenai. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature
will make you glad you came. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This stretch is long enough for an overnight trip if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The nearby
hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
