The wild scenery of the Salmon River Mountains is great. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. The nature scenery of Idaho and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have     to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The One mile down from Smokey Boulder Road to Hazard Creek section of Little Salmon River is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-V section. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. Briefly about the general area: It is very waterless here at Little Salmon River commonly; the wettest month of the year is regularly May, that's the one that rains the most while July is generally the driest month. Through the months of summer here at Little Salmon River, high temperatures regularly reach the 90's,   and the nighttime is somewhat chillier of course, ordinarily in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 40's while Little Salmon River night low temperatures through the winter are in the 20's.
