  The scenic beauty of Idaho County and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often more challenging than in other states, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The beautiful Clearwater Mountains scenery is an added bonus. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling spots. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The campgrounds here at Lochsa River are pretty good. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too.

Lochsa River gets a common amount of yearly precipitation; January is the month that gets the most snow, and July is when it's
 
the driest. Don't leave Lochsa River without first paying a visit to Stanley Hot Springs.
Summertime highs at Lochsa River frequently tend to be in the 80's, and throughout the night it cools down to the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 30's with temperatures at Lochsa River dipping down into the 20's during winter nights.
