The wonderful Custer County scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Marsh Creek beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often more difficult than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. The State Highway 21 to Middle Fork Salmon section of Marsh Creek is 6 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. There's camping available near Marsh Creek. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but do book a room before you
come because it is a very popular destination. A good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are lots of good rivers for that around here. Whitewater paddling here in the Sawtooth Range
is a great experience. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. This is the only paddling stretch along Marsh Creek.
Briefly about the general area: From a rainfall point of view Marsh Creek is a quite normal place; most of the snow falls through January, and the driest month is July. For the duration of the warmest time of the year, highs typically are in the 80's at Marsh Creek; through summer nights temperatures are in the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 30's, and night lows
at Marsh Creek during the winter ordinarily descend into the 10's. There is a good hiking trail in the neighborhood of Marsh Creek called the Bear Valley Creek Trail, and Big Hole is an interesting thing to see since you're here. There's no way someone can get bored here in the Sawtooth Range. Near Marsh Creek you hit upon the Blue Bunch Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail.
