Owyhee
county,
to Sheep Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 6 miles
The beautiful scenery of Owyhee County and the water flowing gracefully down Marys Creek are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The to Sheep Creek section of Marys Creek is 6 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. This is the only paddling section along Marys Creek. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but you'd
better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states,
so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip.
Briefly about the general area: Marys Creek is generally a reasonably waterless location; through the month of November you get the most rain around here, and July on the other hand is the driest. On a great day at Marys Creek you can take a hike along the Tindall Trail, and the Cedar Tree Trail is a nice
hiking trail nearby. For the duration of the warmest time of the year at Marys Creek highs are generally in the 90's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. High temperatures all through the wintertime are normally in the 30's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Marys Creek temperatures sink to the 20's.
