This stretch of Owyhee River is 36 miles long and it is classified as a class III section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Idaho and the water flowing gracefully down Owyhee River are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The Crutcher's Crossing to Three Forks section is one of many paddling sections in this river system. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There's camping available near Owyhee River. Idaho is often tougher than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less forgiving. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good spots for that around here. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors
are great reasons to come. A stretch of this length does require some preparations, so it looks like you will be camping out.
Briefly about the general area: Idaho Spring is a stunning place to stop at while you're at Owyhee River, and while you're here why not have a look at Berry Gulch. During the days of summer, highs mostly are in the 80's at Owyhee River. When the night sets in temperatures drop down into the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's; overnight lows in the 10's for Owyhee River. Owyhee River gets
very little rainfall; the month of November is the wettest with most of the rain while July is ordinarily the driest month. A short journey to Saddlehorse Spring is always worthwhile.
