The wonderful Idaho scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Panther Creek beats anything. This section of Panther Creek in Idaho is 4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. Getting a good workout and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. The beauty of the Bitterroot Range is a great plus for this river. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but if you
don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often more difficult than elsewhere, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. There are a few other stretches in this river
system that can be paddled as well. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you won't find a large number of other spots.
Briefly about the general area: Hiking along the Sagebrush Lookout Trail is delightful fun; Bear Gulch is also a delightful spot to discover. Panther Creek is usually a rather arid place; throughout June this area sees the most rain while February is regularly the driest month. If you want a delightful time in the great outdoors just come
on up to the Bitterroot Range. Going for a hike along the Pretty Gulch Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. For the duration of the long summer days at Panther Creek temperatures are usually in the 80's. All through the moonlight hours it's mostly in the 40's.
