This section of Panther Creek is 8 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class III-V section. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. This is one of a small number of paddling stretches in this river system, there are a few others too. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Idaho you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so better not forget that many runs in this state are not easy. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better
reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon. The natural beauty of Idaho and the
cool fresh water will make you feel great. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking there are not so many other good spots for that around here. The wild scenery of the Salmon River Mountains is great.
Briefly about the general area: If the weather is nice here at Panther Creek, you can go for a hike along the Hot Springs Trail, and you could always discover Fritzer Gulch. It is very dry here at Panther Creek generally; June is when you get the most rain here, and the driest month of the year is February. These mountains rock,

Summer brings highs in the 80's to Panther Creek while night lows are regularly in the 40's. For the duration of the wintertime highs are typically in the 20's with winter lows in the 0's overnight here at Panther Creek.
