The natural beauty of Idaho and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water make the trip here worthwhile. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. Getting some good exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This stretch of Panther Creek in Idaho is 8 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-V section of whitewater. You might
have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The beautiful Salmon River Mountains scenery is an added bonus. This stretch is mid length, good for a one day paddling trip.
Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other places for that. The Trapper Flat to Birch Creek section is one of a few paddling sections in this river system. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp.
Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Panther Creek all through the summertime months are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 40's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; throughout the dark hours in the wintertime at Panther Creek temperatures
dip to the 0's. It is very dry here at Panther Creek regularly; the month with most of the rain is June, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Life's too short to enjoy all the cool things in the Salmon River Mountains. Don't leave Panther Creek without first going for
a hike along the Birch Creek Trail. There's fine hiking along the Hot Springs Trail, and if you're here, you might as well explore Fritzer Gulch.
