This stretch of Payette River in Boise County is -blank- miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+ section. The beautiful scenery of Idaho and the playfulness of the water beats anything. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho are harder than the national norm, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors will have you coming back for more. This is the only paddling stretch along Payette River. Not too many hotels |
nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. The beauty of the Salmon River Mountains is a great plus for this river.

| about the general area: Not much rainfall falls here at Payette River; June is the month that gets the most rain, and the driest of the months is February. At Payette River through the summertime highs are in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures plunge down into the 40's.
