Idaho whitewater - Payette River, Boise County Boise county, Banks to Beehive Bend section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS III     7 miles   This stretch of Payette River in Boise County is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III section of whitewater. The wonderful Boise County scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are not easy. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river,     but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. The put-in is not too far from Boise City-Nampa, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. There's camping available near Payette River. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this is an area with plenty of spots for that. Briefly about the general area: Near Payette River you find the Dry Buck Mountain Trail which is a great hiking trail. At Payette River during the summer months highs are in the 90's; throughout summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are frequently in the 30's, and winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Payette River.
