The Hardscrabble Campground to Lightning Creek Bridge stretch of Payette River - Middle Fork is 4.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II(III) section of whitewater. This is a pretty decent length section, suitable for an afternoon trip. The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often more challenging than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. The beautiful scenery of -blank- County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the
stream make the trip here worthwhile. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. There are so many sections to paddle in this
river system, the Hardscrabble Campground to Lightning Creek Bridge section is just one of many. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good spots for that around here. Getting your paddling muscles activated and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. When you're paddling down a Salmon River Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too.

stuff in the Salmon River Mountains, just tremendous. Powderhouse Gulch is a delightful place to spend some time at, and you can go for a hike on the Bear Wallow Trail. This river is a wonderful place to visit. Packer Spring is a delightful site to stop at while you're at Payette
River - Middle Fork, and going for a hike on the One Spoon Way is always a pleasant adventure. At Payette River - Middle Fork you don’t see much rainfall; through the month of December you get the most snow around here, and July on the other hand is the driest.
