Idaho whitewater, Payette River - North Fork

Valley county, Upper Payette Lake to Big Payette Lake section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-IV     10.4 miles
The nature scenery of Idaho and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. This section of Payette River - North Fork is 10.4 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-IV section of whitewater. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. If you're coming from Boise City-Nampa it's not
a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this is an area with plenty of rivers for that. The nearby hotels
are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This section has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so why not pack your camp stove too. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Idaho you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is
wonderful. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby.

Briefly about the general area:
One of the best things about Payette River - North Fork is its proximity to Sylvan Beach; folks
from Mccall love to come here. That right there is a lot of fun stuff already but it goes on, the Salmon River Mountains has it all. A day at North Beach in the neighborhood of Payette River - North Fork is time well spent; the best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Brundage Mountain. This river is so great.
