Idaho whitewater - Potlatch River, Clearwater Mountains, Latah/ Nez Perce County Latah/ Nez Perce county, Little Boulder Campground to Cedar Creek section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-V     15 miles   The Little Boulder Campground to Cedar Creek stretch of Potlatch River in Idaho is 15 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-V section. The nature scenery of Idaho and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. The put-in location is a short drive from Moscow, as you can see on the road map further down. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, there are not so many other good rivers for that around here. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are sure to     keep you coming back for more. When you're paddling down a Clearwater Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. The campgrounds here at Potlatch River are pretty good. If you hurry you can run this section in a day but why not make it an overnighter, so why not pack your camp stove too. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Briefly about the general area: From a rainfall point of view Potlatch River is a relatively normal spot; December is the wettest month with most   snow; July is the month with the least moisture. Throughout the long summer days highs here at Potlatch River reach the 80's. Summer nighttime lows fall down to the 40's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's with temperatures at Potlatch River dipping down into the 20's through winter nights.
