Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Idaho is often more difficult than elsewhere, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The natural beauty of Bonner County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so why not pack your sleeping bag too. river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. This stretch of Priest River in Bonner County is 23 miles long and it is classified as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This river system has a few good paddling stretches and the Upper Priest River to Priest River Town section is one of them. There's camping available near Priest River.
Briefly about the general area: At Priest River during the months of summer highs are in the 80's. For the period of the dark hours
of summer temperatures sink down into the 40's. For the duration of the winter highs are in the 30's, and overnight lows during the winter for Priest River tend to be in the 10's. Priest River is a good site of typical rainfall; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow; the driest month of the year is July.
