This section of Priest River in Bonner County is 23 miles long and is a class II-III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The scenic beauty of Bonner County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that many runs in this state are not easy. If you're coming from Coeur d'Alene it's not a long drive at all to the
starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This stretch has enough mileage for
an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The campgrounds here at Priest River are pretty good. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a pretty small number of paddling spots. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. This is one of a small number of paddling sections in this river system, there are a few others too.
