The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so you'd better keep in mind that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere. The Hellroaring Creek to Redfish Lake Creek section of Salmon River in Custer County is 12 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. The wonderful Idaho scenery and the cool fresh water attract people
from near and far. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so pack your camp stove. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around
here you won't find a large number of other places.
Briefly about the general area: Salmon River gets very little rainfall; all through December this area sees the most snow, and July is when it's the driest. Going for a hike on the Yellow Belly Trail is always a good adventure. Near Salmon River you come across the Bull Moose Trail which is a magnificent hiking trail, and Club Canyon is another splendid place to check out close by. The warmest time of the year at Salmon River comes with high temperatures in the 70's while nighttime lows
are frequently in the 30's. High temperatures during the winter are normally in the 20's, and overnight lows in the-10's for Salmon River.
