  The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so don't forget that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. The wonderful Idaho scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Salmon River have people coming here. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. If you have the time you can make this a two day trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. Getting your paddling muscles activated and a chance to spend some time outdoors will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater
    rafting or kayaking this is an area with not too many other rivers for that. The Hellroaring Creek to Redfish Lake Creek section of Salmon River in Custer County is 12 miles long and has been rated as a class II-III section by American Whitewater. This is not the only paddling
section in this river system, there are others too. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.

Briefly about the general area:
You might want to pay a visit to Club Canyon if you're here at Salmon River, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Yellow Belly Trail. For the period of the long summer days highs here at Salmon River reach the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 30's. All through the winter highs are in the
 
20's, and winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Salmon River.
Salmon River is frequently a rather arid location; of all the months in a year December is the one with the most snow while July is commonly the driest month. Have a brilliant hiking adventure along the Bull Moose Trail.
