The scenic beauty of Idaho and the playfulness of the water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The East Fork of Salmon to Town of North Fork stretch of Salmon River in Idaho is 70 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II section. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here.
You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, in this general area you won't find many other paddling spots. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so if you're not from
around here don't forget that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so it looks like you will be camping out. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the East Fork of Salmon to Town of North Fork stretch is one of them. The river winds through the Salmon River Mountains and you get great scenery. There's camping available near Salmon River.

River; June is the wettest month with most rain while February is ordinarily the driest month. Summertime brings highs in the 80's to Salmon River, and the overnight is a little colder of course, usually in the 40's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's while the cold winter nights at Salmon River are in the 0's.
