The beautiful scenery of Idaho/ Lemhi County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This stretch of Salmon River in Idaho/ Lemhi County is 28 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.
When you're paddling down a Clearwater Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You can enjoy this
section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Vinegar Creek to Riggins section is one of them.
