This stretch of Salmon River in Idaho/ Lemhi County is 28 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling spots. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so you'd better keep in mind that lots of rivers here are not for beginners.     When you're paddling down a Clearwater Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery along the way too. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. You can enjoy this section more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This river system has a few good paddling sections and the Vinegar Creek to Riggins section is one of them. Briefly about the general area: High temperatures at Salmon River during the days of summer are in the 80's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures descend down into the 40's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 30's, and night lows all   through the wintertime for Salmon River tend to be in the 20's. Salmon River is right by the Broken Leg Trail, and you might also want to pay a visit to Little Slate Creek Saddle since you're here at Salmon River. Salmon River is a location that is quite arid commonly; the month of May is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.
