Riggins to White Bird section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 36 miles
This stretch of Salmon River is 36 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Idaho tend to be more challenging than the national average, so better not forget that rivers here are less forgiving. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you'll find a large number of good spots. There are some good sections to paddle in this river system, the Riggins to White Bird section is one of them. Getting a good workout and just hanging
out with mother nature will make you glad you came. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. The beautiful Clearwater Mountains scenery is an added
bonus. The nature scenery of Idaho/ Lemhi County and the playfulness of the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
