Idaho whitewater - Salmon River, Wallowa Mountains, Idaho County

Idaho county, White Bird to Snake River confluence section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.

CLASS II-IV     50 miles
The natural beauty of Idaho and the cool fresh water have people coming here. A stretch this long is of course too much for a one day trip, so make sure you pack enough food along with your camping gear. The campgrounds here at Salmon River are pretty good. If you've been out of state whitewater rafting and kayaking you might find the rivers here more demanding, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that many of the rivers here are not very forgiving. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a pretty small number of paddling
places. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. The White Bird to Snake River confluence stretch is the only paddling stretch along Salmon River. This section of Salmon
River is 50 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-IV section. Getting some good exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The Wallowa Mountains scenery is wonderful.

Briefly about the general area:
