This section of Salmon River - Middle Fork in Custer County is 8 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. Whitewater paddling here in the Sawtooth Range is a great experience. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling rivers. There are a few other stretches in this river system that can be paddled as well. There are campgrounds quite near the river where
you can camp. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and
near. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so you'd better keep in mind that many runs in this state are not easy. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon.
