This section of Salmon River - South Fork in Valley County is 7 miles long and has been rated as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. The nature scenery of Idaho and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. When you're paddling down a Salmon River Mountains river like this one you always get great scenery
along the way too. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons to come. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way there are lots of good
spots for that around here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're visiting here do keep in mind that rivers here are less forgiving.
