This stretch of Salmon River - South Fork is 16 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II-V section. The beautiful scenery of Valley County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream attract people from near and far. This is not the only paddling section in this river system, there are others too. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in this state tend to be more challenging than the national average, so if you're not from around here don't forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. If you have
the time you can make this a two day trip, so why not pack your camping stuff too. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all
set. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great attractions for lots of people. The Salmon River Mountains scenery is wonderful.
