The wonderful Idaho scenery and the cool fresh water are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so you'd better keep in mind that quite a few of the sections here are not easy. The Loon Creek to South Fork Salmon River section of Secesh River is 14.4 miles long and it is classified as a class IV-V section by American Whitewater. There's camping available near Secesh River. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking
or both, doesn't matter, there are lots of good places for that around here. You can enjoy this stretch more if you take your time, so go ahead and pack your camp stove. The beautiful Salmon River Mountains scenery is an added bonus. A bit of exercise and just being out on the
river for a while will have you coming back for more. This is the only paddling stretch along Secesh River. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick.
Briefly about the general area: Secesh River gets a typical amount of annual rain; January is the month that gets the most snow, and the driest month is July. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Secesh River reach the 70's, and all through the night it cools down to the 30's. All through the wintertime highs are ordinarily in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 0's for Secesh River.
