Last half mile before Middle Fork Boise River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.
CLASS III-IV 0.5 miles
This stretch of Sheep Creek is 0.5 miles long and is a class III-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. If you're coming from Mountain Home it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. A bit of exercise and just being out on the river for a while will have you coming back for more. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. This is a very short stretch so it's not
like you're gonna spend hours on the river in one stretch. The wonderful Idaho scenery and the water flowing gracefully down Sheep Creek attract people from near and far. For all you camping people there are campgrounds nearby. Sheep Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections,
the Last half mile before Middle Fork Boise River section is the only one. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are lots of good spots for that around here. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that rivers here are not as easy as elsewhere.
Briefly about the general area: Throughout the warmest time of the year here at Sheep Creek, high temperatures frequently reach the 80's, and through summer nights
temperatures are in the 40's. Highs through the winter are frequently in the 30's; after the sun is down through the wintertime temperatures at Sheep Creek plunge into the 10's. While staying at Sheep Creek you could always explore Logging Gulch. From a rain point of view Sheep Creek is a relatively typical place; most of the snow falls all through January, and July on the other hand is the driest.
