The wonderful Idaho County scenery and the playfulness of the water will make you feel great. The rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Idaho are often tougher than in other states, so better not forget that the rivers in this state are less manageable. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. 23.7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class II-V section of whitewater. This is the only paddling section along Slate Creek. This stretch has enough mileage for an overnight trip, so go ahead and pack your sleeping bag. The campgrounds here at Slate Creek are
| pretty good. The beauty of the Clearwater Mountains is a great plus for this river. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way this area has a large number of paddling places.

Not much rain falls here at Slate Creek; May is the month that gets the most rain while February is regularly the driest month. Throughout the warm months at Slate Creek temperatures are mostly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 40's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 30's with winter lows in the 20's overnight here at Slate Creek.
