This stretch of St. Joe River in Shoshone County is 7 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class III-IV section of whitewater. The average Idaho whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be a bit harder to master than those in other states, so keep in mind that the rivers in this state are less manageable. The nature scenery of Shoshone County and the water flowing gracefully down St. Joe River beats anything. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Conrad Crossing Campground to Bluff Creek Bridge stretch is just
one of them. This stretch is mid length, it's good length for a morning trip. The campgrounds here at St. Joe River are pretty good. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination.
Getting your paddling muscles activated and spending some quality time in nature will have you coming back for more. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good rivers. The river winds through the Bitterroot Range and you get great scenery.
