The nature scenery of Idaho and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are in themselves reasons enough to come here to paddle. The Turner Creek to Packsaddle Creek section of St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon in Idaho is 4 miles long and has been rated as a class III-IV section by American Whitewater. The river winds through the Bitterroot Range and you get great scenery. This stretch is mid length, it's perfect for a one day trip. The campgrounds here at St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon are pretty good. Great exercise and just being out
on the river for a while will make you glad you came. Whether you're whitewater rafting or kayaking around here you'll find a large number of good spots. This river system is full of great paddling stretches, the Turner Creek to Packsaddle Creek stretch is just one of them. The
rivers for whitewater rafting and kayaking in this state are often tougher than in other states, so if you're not from around here don't forget that a lot of the rivers here are not suitable for beginners. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car.
