This section of St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon in Idaho is 4 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class III-IV section. The wonderful Shoshone County scenery and the cool fresh water beats anything. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking this area has a large number of paddling places. Getting a good workout and just hanging out with mother nature will make you glad you came. This river system is full of great paddling sections, the Turner Creek to Packsaddle Creek section is just one of them. The wild scenery
of the Bitterroot Range is great. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit more challenging, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are not safe for beginners. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river,
but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. And of course, there are campgrounds nearby. This is a pretty decent length section, you can easily run it on an afternoon.

Summertime brings highs in the 80's to St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon while overnight lows are usually in the 40's. All through the winter highs are in the 30's; night lows in the 20's for St. Joe River - Skookum Canyon.
