The Bridge to Lusk Creek section of Bear Branch is 4 miles long and is a class III section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a reasonable drive from Harrisburg, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. The Bridge to Lusk Creek section is the only paddling section     along Bear Branch. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. There aren’t any hotels right nearby but if you're willing to drive a short distance then no problem and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This section is long enough to enjoy a good non stop paddle, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way this is an area with not too many other spots for that. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Illinois is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that a lot of the rivers here are suitable for beginners. Briefly about the general area: The River to River Trail is a great hiking trail next to Bear Branch. All through the long summer days highs here at Bear Branch get into the 80's with night lows in   the 60's.
