CLASS I-II 4.5 miles
This sight is great. However I cant seem how to book an outing for my empoyees. Is there some sort of sevice that provides tubes, rafts, and lifejackets? Says Jennifer
The wonderful Illinois scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. This stretch of Bear Creek in Adams County is 4.5 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class I-II section. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Great exercise and just being out on the river for a while are great reasons
to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Illinois is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that many of the sections here are safe for beginners.
If you're coming from Quincy it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The CR900E to Highway 96 section is the only paddling section along Bear Creek. This is a pretty decent length section, it's good length for a morning trip. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good rivers for that around here.
