The Cedar Creek Road to Peru Bottom Road stretch of Cedar Creek is 5.9 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II(IV) section by American Whitewater. A good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have people coming from far and near. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other spots.     This stretch has has enough mileage, good for a one day paddling trip. The starting point is not too far from Ottawa-Streator, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. Cedar Creek doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the Cedar Creek Road to Peru Bottom Road section is the only one. There are many good hotels to choose from, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Illinois you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy.
