Illinois whitewater - Fall Creek, Adams County Adams county, End of Gorge Trail to Parking Lot section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS I-IV     2 miles   This stretch of Fall Creek in Illinois is 2 miles long and is a class I-IV section of whitewater according to American Whitewater. The put-in location is a short drive from Quincy, as you can see on the road map further down. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Illinois you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The beautiful scenery of Adams County and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream make the trip here worthwhile. Not too many hotels     nearby, you'll have to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. Great exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great reasons to come. No matter if you're whitewater rafting or kayaking in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. This stretch is short so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The End of Gorge Trail to Parking Lot section is the only paddling section along Fall Creek. Briefly about the general area: An average amount of precipitation falls at Fall Creek; the wettest month of the year is regularly July, that's the one that rains the most, and the driest month of the year is January. Through the months of summer at Fall Creek highs are regularly in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends   down to the 60's. Highs throughout the winter are mostly in the 30's with temperatures at Fall Creek dipping down into the 10's through winter nights.
