This stretch of Fall Creek in Illinois is 2 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-IV section. The natural beauty of Illinois and the cool fresh water are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Quincy it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way in this
general area you won't find many other paddling spots. This is the only paddling section along Fall Creek. Getting a good workout and a chance to spend some time outdoors have a lot of people coming here. Whitewater rafting and kayaking spots in Illinois tend to be more forgiving
than the national average, so keep in mind that many runs in this state are very easy. This is a bit of a short stretch so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times.
Briefly about the general area: Fall Creek gets a common amount of yearly rain; the month of July is the wettest with most of the rain, and January is when it's the driest. Throughout the months of summer highs here at Fall Creek reach the 80's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's, and overnight lows in the 10's for Fall Creek.
