Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Illinois is often easier than elsewhere, so keep in mind that rivers here are not as hard as elsewhere. The put-in location is a short drive from Ottawa-Streator, please print out a copy of the road map further down the page so you won’t get lost. The nature scenery of Illinois and the sparkling of the sunlight on the water beats anything. There are plenty of hotels here if you want to spend a night, and if you make
reservations in advance you're all set. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. This is the only paddling stretch along Little Vermilion River. On this section you do get some distance, suitable for an afternoon trip. Since you're on this site you are probably
into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. Getting some good exercise and just being out on the river for a while have a lot of people coming here. This section of Little Vermilion River in Illinois is 6.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class I-II(III) section.
