The sections for whitewater rafting and kayaking here in Illinois are often more forgiving than in other states, so keep in mind that rivers here are less demanding. The N3179 Road to IandM Canal section of Little Vermilion River is 6.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II(III) section by American Whitewater. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number |

of other rivers. Lodging is available near the river, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. The starting location is a short drive from Ottawa-Streator, as you can see on the road map further down. Getting some good exercise and just hanging
| out with mother nature have a lot of people coming here. On this section you do get some distance, it's perfect for a one day trip. Little Vermilion River doesn't have a lot of paddling sections, the N3179 Road to IandM Canal section is the only one. The natural beauty of Illinois and the water flowing gracefully down Little Vermilion River have people coming here.
