The beautiful scenery of Illinois and the cool fresh water beats anything. This section of Lusk Creek in Illinois is 4.5 miles long and is according to American Whitewater a class I-III section of whitewater. You can pitch a tent or park your RV at a nearby campground. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature are great reasons to come. Not too many hotels nearby, you'll have     to drive a bit to get to one, but you'd better reserve in advance because these hotels fill up quick. This stretch has has enough mileage, you can easily run it on an afternoon. There are no other sections to paddle along Lusk Creek than the Lusk Creek Canyon section. Some people prefer whitewater rafting and some kayaking, either way in this general area you won't find many other paddling rivers. The starting location is a short drive from Harrisburg, as you can see on the road map further down. Briefly about the general area: Dog Hollow is a delightful spot to spend some time at; why not take a refreshing hike along the River to River Trail. Throughout the summertime months at Lusk Creek temperatures are generally in the 80's. Once the sun is down it sinks down to the 60's. Daytime highs during the winter are   in the 30's, and night lows at Lusk Creek all through the wintertime usually dip into the 10's. The high level of rainfall makes Lusk Creek a reasonably wet location; March is when you get the most rain here, and January on the other hand is the driest.
