If you're coming from Lafayette it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, as you can see on the road map further down. The wonderful Indiana scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream have people coming here. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside Indiana you might find the rivers here a bit more manageable, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. There are no other sections to paddle along Big Pine Creek than the Rainsville to Twin Bridges section. This stretch of
Big Pine Creek is 6.7 miles long and is rated by American Whitewater as a class II+(III) section. Great exercise and just hanging out with mother nature have people coming from far and near. You might have to settle for a hotel a bit away from the river if you want to stay the
night, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. If you're a camper you can camp at one of the great campgrounds nearby. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way around here you won't find a large number of other places. This stretch has has enough mileage, suitable for an afternoon trip.
