Living the past. Late 40's. Me and my gang used to use inter tubes or just our bodies down a spot on CC,  right across from the old mill site. Thanks for the memories. Says Larry Miller

If you're coming from Elkhart-Goshen
it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. If you've been whitewater rafting and kayaking outside this state you might find the rivers here a bit
more forgiving, so don't forget that a lot of the rivers in this state are suitable for beginners. A bit of exercise and a chance to spend some time outdoors are great attractions for lots of people. The West Simonton to St. Joseph River section of Christiana Creek in Elkhart County is 1.5 miles long and it is classified as a class I-II section by American Whitewater. The natural beauty of Indiana and the cool fresh water are reasons enough
to come here and paddle. There are some good stretches to paddle in this river system, the West Simonton to St. Joseph River stretch is one of them. You might be into whitewater rafting or kayaking or both, doesn't matter, around here you won't find a large number of other spots. If you'll be staying in a hotel you're in luck, lodging is available very near the river, and if you make reservations in advance you're all set. This stretch is short so no need to bring snacks.

Briefly about the general area:
Christiana Creek is not far at all from Elkhart. At Christiana Creek throughout the days of summer highs are in the 80's with night lows in the 50's.
