Indiana whitewater - McCormick's Creek, Owen County Owen county, Bridle Trail to White River section whitewater kayaking, rafting, and paddling information.   CLASS II-III(V)     1.5 miles   This stretch of McCormick's Creek in Owen County is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(V) section. The wonderful Owen County scenery and the beautiful way the water current moves down the stream are reasons enough to come here and paddle. If you're coming from Bloomington it's not a long drive at all to the put-in location, there's a road map further down the page with more info on that. The Bridle Trail to White River section is the only paddling section along McCormick's Creek. Great exercise and spending     some quality time in nature are great reasons to come. The campgrounds here at McCormick's Creek are pretty good. No need to look hard for hotels, but do book a room before you come because it is a very popular destination. Whitewater rafting and kayaking in Indiana is often easier than elsewhere, so don't forget that rivers here are less demanding. This is a bit of a short stretch so better bring some good walking shoes. Briefly about the general area: Summer at McCormick's Creek arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. Summer overnight lows plunge down to the 60's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 30's with winter lows in the 10's overnight here at McCormick's Creek.
