The average Indiana whitewater rafting or kayaking river tends to be easier to run than those in other states, so don't forget that a large number of rivers in this state are quite easy. If you're coming from Bloomington it's not a long drive at all to the starting location, if you're not familiar with the area there's a road map further down the page. There are no other stretches to paddle along McCormick's Creek than the Bridle Trail     to White River stretch. Since you're on this site you are probably into whitewater rafting or kayaking, either way there are not so many other good places for that around here. This stretch of McCormick's Creek in Owen County is 1.5 miles long and has been determined by American Whitewater to be a class II-III(V) section. This is a somewhat short section so you'd better be prepared to walk your kayak back to put-in a few times. The nearby hotels are a bit away from the river, but if you don’t have reservations you might end up sleeping in your car. There are campgrounds quite near the river where you can camp. Briefly about the general area: All the water falling down from the sky makes McCormick's Creek a wet place; of all the months in a year July is the one with the most rain, and January is the month with the least   moisture. High temperatures at McCormick's Creek during the summer are in the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures sink down into the 60's. The winter comes with highs in the 30's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to McCormick's Creek.
